Gold cube

Moon Gallery, Nanoracks, Voyager Space

My piece “GOLD CUBE” pays homage to Culture and Art in all its multitudes. “GOLD CUBE” reflects on  the places where science is taught: the University as a hub that transmits universal knowledge. Since the beginning, Culture and Study have been the values that have secured man’s freedom.

“GOLD CUBE” is a heartfelt tribute to the University of Padova, where I studied and where I developed my love for studying and knowledge. Illustrious scholars, such as N. Copernicus, A. Vesalius, G. F. D’ Acquapendente, G. Galilei, W. Harvey and many others have taught hundreds of students. Galileo Galilei studied and wrote essays on the moon when he was a professor at the University of Padua in  1592-1610 ( “… I spent in Padova the best 18 years of my life” . G. Galilei from a  Letter to F. Liceti  June 23th, 1640 ).

I THINK IT’S IMPORTANT  TO DEDICATE THE MAIN SIDE OF THE GOLDEN CUBE TO THE THE FAMOUS ITALIAN ASTRONOMER GALILEO GALILEI; WITH MY ARTWORK HE,  AFTER MORE THAN FOUR CENTURIES, WILL LOOK AT THE EARTH FROM THE MOON. GALILEO ‘LL REMAIN THE ICON OF SCIENCE AND ASTRONOMY  FOREVER AND HE’LL REMAIN A  DEEP SYMBOL OF THE ASTRONOMIC RESEARCH.

During the days of forced isolation, I have been wondering what has allowed mankind to conquer the Moon and Space. I think that Man’s ability to resolve problems has ensured that all this would happen. Scientific discoveries throughout the centuries have given mankind the chance to challenge his own limits, recover from illness and, at times, even overcome death.

The Moon will become the new starting point for future discoveries that are fundamental for human life but, we should always imagine the future without forgetting about the past. The gold is a metal that preserves the essence of eternity.
